KUWAIT CITY, Mar 3: In a swift operation, detectives from Jahra visited Jahra Hospital to take the testimony of an injured individual, a move that accelerated the arrest of a thief who had fled on foot after a dramatic escape attempt.
According to a security source, the incident began when a highway patrol near Abdali Society noticed a suspicious "van" type vehicle. Upon checking the vehicle's details, they discovered it was linked to a theft case reported at Al-Waha Police Station. The patrol officers immediately signaled the driver to stop, but the driver refused to comply and instead sped away at high speed in an attempt to evade capture. During the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle collided with another car, causing significant damage. The driver then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving behind his injured companion, who was trapped inside the damaged van.
The source added that upon inspecting the vehicle, highway security personnel found discrepancies between the front and rear number plates. Additionally, two motorcycles were discovered in the trunk, suspected to have been stolen as well. The injured individual, who was hospitalized following the collision, denied any involvement in the theft of the van or knowledge of the motorcycles found in the trunk. However, he provided crucial information to detectives about his companion, including his name, phone number, and place of residence.
Authorities have since circulated the fugitive's details to apprehend him. Once arrested, he will be referred to the relevant police station to face charges related to theft, destruction of property, evading security forces, and causing an accident resulting in injury. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to uncover further details about the stolen vehicle and the suspected stolen motorcycles.
