KUWAIT CITY, Sep 14: An expatriate was admitted to the intensive care unit at Jahra Hospital after accidentally drinking paint thinner. According to a security source, the Ministry of Interior Operations received a report from Jahra Hospital stating that the expatriate had arrived in poor condition and was immediately placed in intensive care due to impaired consciousness. Another expatriate, who had brought the victim to the hospital, was questioned and explained that the incident took place in Mutlaa Residential Area, N7, Block 3. A case has been registered and referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

Generally, paint thinners can contain alcohol, but it depends on the type and formulation. While many common paint thinners use solvents like mineral spirits, turpentine, or acetone, some formulations, especially those designed for specific finishes like shellac or lacquer, may include alcohol, such as isopropyl alcohol or denatured alcohol. Alcohol-based thinners are typically used for these specialized finishes rather than for standard oil-based paints.
