KUWAIT CITY, May 26: A traffic accident took place today, Friday, involving a group of Asian cyclists who were pursuing their hobby of riding bicycles on Gulf Street. As a result of the accident, approximately 15 individuals suffered fractures and injuries. The person responsible for the collision has surrendered to the authorities.

According to security sources, the incident occurred when a car collided with a group of cyclists who were riding in the opposite direction. The driver of the vehicle will face legal consequences for negligence while driving.

It should be noted that the cyclists deliberately chose to ride against the flow of traffic, claiming that it allowed them to see approaching vehicles, despite the fact that the road was not designated for cycling.

Assurances have been given that all injured individuals have received necessary assistance, with those requiring hospitalization receiving appropriate treatment.

Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the accident through the examination of surveillance camera footage. The incident has been registered as a hit-and-run case, and appropriate legal actions are being taken. The Ministry of the Interior is urging individuals engaged in sports activities on major and public roads to comply with the relevant regulations.

It is worth mentioning that similar incidents have occurred in the past, prompting the ministry to emphasize the importance of obtaining permits from the appropriate authorities. These permits ensure the provision of security patrols for protection and the allocation of safe pathways to safeguard the well-being of everyone involved.
