KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: A high-speed chase involving patrols from the Public Security Affairs Division and a detective unit ended tragically in the Abdali area, resulting in the death of a driver and serious injuries to a passenger wanted in a criminal case.
The pursuit began in the capital and concluded when the fleeing vehicle overturned in Abdali. The driver succumbed to injuries, while the passenger, identified as a wanted individual, was critically injured and remains hospitalized.
Upon investigation, forensic examination of the deceased revealed the driver had been fatally shot, which caused the vehicle to overturn. A review of the incident revealed that two officers shot their firearms during the chase, and one shot proved to be fatal.
The case has since been escalated, with a forensic evidence report pending to determine the weapon responsible for the fatal shot. The findings will be referred to the Public Prosecution as the case now involves a homicide investigation.
In response, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Youssef has called for a comprehensive report on the incident. Administrative action against those found responsible is expected following the report's completion.
Authorities have expressed condolences to the deceased's family and well wishes for the recovery of the injured suspect as the investigation unfolds.
