Drop seen in citations issued weekly by MoI’s Traffic Dept

KUWAIT CITY, March 24: The weekly statistics issued by the General Traffic Department, headed by Brigadier General Jamal Al- Foudari, revealed a decrease in direct traffic violations last week, dropping below 30,000 with a total of 29,936 citations issued, reports Al-Anba daily. This comes just a month before the new traffic law is set to take effect on April 22. The stats also revealed a drop in the number of minors detained for driving without driving licenses, with only 11 minors arrested last week.

Traffic accidents have remained consistent, with 1,448 accidents reported between March 15-21. Of these, 207 accidents resulted in fatalities or injuries, while the remaining 1,241 accidents only caused material damage. The stats explained that 46 violators were referred to the traffic detention center for committing serious violations. During the campaigns, 34 vehicles, including 19 vehicles and 14 motorcycles, were impounded. In addition, 17 individuals were arrested, including those reported as absconding, violators of residency laws, and wanted persons.

The breakdown of the arrested individuals is as follows:

Hawalli traffic officers: 5,334 violations (highest)
Farwaniya traffic officers: 5,258 violations
Mubarak Al-Kabeer traffic officers: 4,448 violations
Jahra traffic officers: 3,799 violations
Ahmadi traffic officers: 3,762 violations
Highway Traffic Department: 3,432 violations
Capital traffic officers: 3,316 violations
Special tasks officers: 430 violations
Security Inspection officers: 151 violations

 It is worth noting that the Operations Sector, led by Major General Yousef Al-Khadda, oversees both the General Traffic Department and the Emergency Police Department.
