Duo jailed 10 years in high-profile ‘drugs’ case
Kuwait court

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 25: The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Dr. Khaled Al-Omara, sentenced a detective and a Bedoun to 10 years in prison in the high-profile case involving kidnappers and the masterminds behind the malicious drug trafficking charges fabricated against Dr. Imad Youssef. The court acquitted a sergeant, a dentist and a secretary. Attorney Enaam Haidar, lawyer for one of the defendants, successfully argued for the acquittal of her client. She contended that there was no evidence of kidnapping or any criminal intent against her client. She also pointed out that there was no proof of the crime of forging official documents.

The Public Prosecution charged the defendants with kidnapping Youssef on July 24, 2024. They allegedly deceived him by stopping and searching him, having previously fabricated evidence to falsely accuse him of drug possession. Haidar pointed out that the victim was arrested and detained under unlawful circumstances, violating the established legal procedures outlined in Public Prosecution document number one, clause one and number four, clause two. The defendants unlawfully detained Youssef at the Drug Control General Department. Two of the defendants were present at the scene, supporting the perpetrators. Two other defendants, serving as public employees in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Rescue Department at the Ministry of Interior, were accused of forging an official document -- the report on the referral of Youssef issued on July 24,2024.
