LOS ANGELES, Oct 4, (Agencies): In a recent interview with Nardwuar, Ed Sheeran, 32, shared the incredible lengths he went to in order to bring Eminem, 50, on stage with him at Detroit's Ford Field in July. During this surprise performance in his hometown, Sheeran and the British superstar performed "Lose Yourself" and "Stan" together, much to the delight of their fans.

Sheeran recounted the story of how he persuaded the rap icon to join him for this special moment. "It was pretty difficult," Sheeran chuckled during the interview. He explained that he had to pull off a remarkable travel stunt while also doing Eminem a favor. "I went over to play at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with him in 2022," Sheeran began. "I basically flew in on a rare day off because I was in the midst of shooting 14 music videos back-to-back, and I had just one day off in between. That day off happened to coincide with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. So I hopped on a plane that night, performed, hopped on another plane that night, and flew back."

In November 2022, Sheeran and Eminem performed "Stan" together at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Eminem was evidently moved by the extent of Sheeran's effort and dedication. Sheeran recalled, "He said, 'Anything you ever need,' and right then and there, I said, 'I'm coming to Detroit.' So, that's how it happened."

When asked if he was concerned about being stood up by Eminem on the night of the show, Sheeran expressed his confidence. "I was in Detroit for a couple of days as well," he said. "He let me use his studio to record some stuff, so I had an inkling it was going to happen. I always give people an out when I perform with them; I say, 'You can cancel last minute if you want,' so there's never any pressure."

While the surprise performance was a success, Sheeran couldn't convince Eminem to join him on the rotating circular stage he used for his Mathematics stadium tour. Sheeran explained, "I tried to get him on the revolve, and I think it was a bit too much. I've been on it for 100 shows now, so I'm used to it, but it's definitely different for other people."

Sheeran celebrated the release of his second album of 2023, "Autumn Variations," on September 29. To mark the occasion, he released a new single, "American Town," and embarked on a pub crawl in the heart of one of the most American cities, New York City. His previous album, "(Subtraction)," was released in May and featured hit singles like "Eyes Closed," "Boat," and "Life Goes On."
