KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: The Ministry of Education has confirmed that no bulletins, circulars, or directives have been issued regarding the suspension of leave for male and female employees whose nationality has been revoked, reports Al-Seyassah daily. This clarification comes in response to a circular issued by a girls’ elementary school in one of the educational zones to prevent female teachers and administrators whose nationalities have been revoked from taking any type of leave. The move had sparked criticism within educational circles. In an official statement, the ministry explained that it has taken legal action against certain school principals who made individual decisions that violated work regulations. Some schools had issued internal bulletins without any official directives from the relevant authorities, either from the concerned sector or the educational zone.
The ministry stressed that these internal circulars had no legal basis. It affirmed its full commitment to the directives and instructions of the political leadership regarding employees whose nationality has been revoked. Furthermore, the ministry confirmed its ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and ensure adherence to the regulations and laws governing work in all educational sectors. It highlighted the importance of cooperation between school administrations and the concerned authorities to maintain smooth operations, protect the interests of all stakeholders, and ensure the fair application of the law. In this regard, a circular dated January 7, 2025 addressed to female teachers and administrators at the aforementioned school stated that the decision was based on instructions from the educational zone. It explicitly prohibited female employees whose nationalities have been revoked from taking any type of leave. However, it failed to provide any explanation for the decision or reference to the legal grounds on which it was based. Several female employees expressed their dissatisfaction with the circular, considering it a violation of their legal and human rights.
