Egypt tops list of Arab teachers in Kuwait private schools

KUWAIT CITY, March 2: The Education Statistical Group revealed that the total number of teachers in the private sector reached 14,668 -- 4,474 men and 9,912 women of different nationalities mostly Arabs and Asians. According to the statistics, Egypt topped the list of Arab countries in terms of the number of teachers working in private schools; as the number of Egyptian teachers reached 6,527 -- 3,680 men and 2,847 women, followed by Jordan with 999, Syria with 605, Lebanon with 460, Palestine with 163, Iraq with 33, Yemen with 32 and Sudan with nine.

At the same time; the statistics showed that the number of Moroccan teachers reached 13, Libyans 13, Tunisians 98, Algerians 18, eight Mauritanians and Somalia 13; bringing the total number of teachers from Arab countries to 8,978. The number of Kuwaiti teachers reached 282 -- 241 men and 41 women, Saudi Arabia with 37, the United Arab Emirates with six; while Bahrain, Qatar and Oman has one each. The total number of teachers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries reached 328.

As for foreign countries (non-Arab), India came in first place with a total of 1,934; followed by Pakistan with 539, then the ‘others’ category consisting of several nationalities with 2,566; Iran with 104, bringing the total number of teachers from foreign countries to 5,143. Also, the number of teachers from the Bedoun category reached 219 -- 201 female teachers and 18 male teachers.
