KUWAIT CITY, Mar 6: Egypt’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Osama Shaltout, has disclosed that the Egyptian consulate in Kuwait has received numerous requests from Egyptian nationals seeking to regain their original citizenship following the revocation of their Kuwaiti nationality.
In a press statement, Ambassador Shaltout clarified that Egyptian laws permit dual citizenship and provide clear regulations for both renouncing and reinstating citizenship. He emphasized that individuals wishing to reclaim their Egyptian citizenship, particularly those whose Kuwaiti citizenship has been withdrawn, need only submit a formal request to the Egyptian consulate in Kuwait. The consulate will then review the application and the necessary documentation, with the process typically taking between three months to a year to complete. The ambassador further noted that the consulate is currently evaluating the received requests as part of the standard legal procedures to facilitate the restoration of Egyptian citizenship. This development comes amid ongoing efforts to assist Egyptian expatriates in navigating the complexities of citizenship laws in both countries.
