NEW DELHI, Dec 3: On Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, secured a resounding victory in three out of four state Legislative Assembly Elections, according to preliminary results. The Election Commission of India reported BJP's wins in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. However, in the southern state of Telangana, the opposition Congress party emerged victorious.

While these local election results suggest momentum in favor of Modi's bid for a third term in the upcoming 2024 national elections, it's crucial to note that local elections may not always accurately reflect the national sentiment.

In Rajasthan, the BJP claimed success in 115 out of 199 seats, with the Congress party securing 69 seats, the Bahujan Samaj Party two seats, and others 13 seats. In Madhya Pradesh, Modi's right-wing party dominated with 163 out of 230 seats, while the Indian National Congress secured 66 seats, and another local party won one seat. Chhattisgarh saw the BJP winning 54 out of 90 seats, with the Congress party securing 35 seats and a local party gaining one seat.

Moving to Telangana, the Indian National Congress secured 64 out of 119 seats, while the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi won 39 seats. The BJP secured eight seats, and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen gained seven seats.

The opposition Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi, is forming a coalition with major opposition parties to challenge the right-wing BJP in the upcoming Parliamentary Elections next year.
