Electricity Demand Peaks in Kuwait as Temperatures Hit 29°C

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Kuwait's electricity grid experienced a significant surge in demand yesterday as temperatures climbed to 29°C, pushing power consumption to approximately 9,500 megawatts - bringing the system into the red alert zone.

Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy officials attributed the strain on the grid to reduced generation capacity, with several power units currently undergoing scheduled maintenance. These maintenance operations are expected to be completed by May.

With temperatures forecast to fluctuate in the coming days, ministry sources warned that electricity demand could climb even higher. The ministry has mobilized all available resources to maintain a stable power supply while appealing to consumers to practice energy conservation measures to help alleviate pressure on the national grid.
