Embassy of Vietnam marks 78th National Day

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: The Embassy of Vietnam in Kuwait hosted a reception to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the country’s National Day at the Regency Hotel. The event witnessed a significant turnout, graced by Ambassador Sameeh Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia Affairs of Kuwait, as the esteemed Guest of Honor. Those attending the event included diplomatic corps representatives from various embassies, Kuwaiti friends of Vietnam, and the Vietnamese community residing in Kuwait.

In his opening address, the Vietnam Ambassador to Kuwait HE Ngo Toan Thang, emphasized the remarkable achievements Vietnam has attained over more than 35 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Reformation) policy, spanning various crucial fields. He highlighted notable accomplishments, such as Vietnam attracting $25 billion in foreign investment in 2022, and the country’s burgeoning economy, estimated at nearly $400 billion.

He went on to say, Vietnam has also forged strong trade ties with neighboring countries and established enduring relations with 30 strategic and comprehensive partners. “The friendly and diverse relationship between Vietnam and Kuwait spans 47 years,” said Ambassador Ngo Toan Thang and underscored Kuwait’s pioneering role as the first Gulf country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1976. Additionally, he said, Kuwait was the first Gulf nation where Vietnam chose to establish its embassy 20 years ago.

The collaboration between the two nations extends across various domains, encompassing political dialogues, robust trade turnovers, and cultural activities, which have significantly contributed to the growth of Vietnam’s tourism industry.

Ambassador Ngo Toan Thang expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, and Prime Minister, HH Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah, as well as the Kuwaiti government, businesses, and its people for fostering this relationship. During the ceremony, attendees were treated to an array of exquisite Vietnamese dishes, including the iconic “pho”, “banh mi”, and egg coffee, offering a delightful gastronomic experience.
