KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: Acting Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA), Eng. Samira AlKandari, emphasized the authority's commitment to achieving the sustainability goals outlined in Kuwait Vision 2035. This includes promoting the adoption of green building standards and preserving the local environment.
During her speech at the launch of the 2nd Gulf Green Buildings Conference and Exhibition at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Kuwait, Al-Kandari highlighted the importance of the conference as a platform for exchanging experiences and presenting innovative solutions and modern technologies aimed at mitigating climate change and improving the efficiency of natural resource use. The event is being held under the auspices of the EPA, and it will continue until tomorrow.
Al-Kandari noted that the EPA’s sponsorship of the conference aligns with its commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance environmental sustainability and raise awareness of green building practices across the region.
Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense for Military Facilities Engineering, Eng. Hussam Al-Ateeqi, also reiterated the Ministry of Defense’s commitment to environmentally friendly standards in the design of military buildings and facilities. He emphasized the ministry's support for projects, solutions, and initiatives that align with Kuwait's national goals of creating a clean and sustainable environment. Al-Ateeqi further emphasized the ministry’s eagerness to participate in such events, which play a significant role in promoting the culture of green construction and advancing a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach in the country.
The head of the conference's scientific committee, Eng. Mohammed Al-Saleh, expressed that holding the event in Kuwait at this time is a valuable opportunity for specialists to gather and share the latest developments in the green construction industry. He added that the conference features skilled local and international speakers who will present cutting-edge green construction technologies that help reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental balance. Al-Saleh emphasized that green construction technology fosters innovation in the design and implementation of urban projects, making them better aligned with sustainable development goals.
Eng. Yasmine Al-Kandari, a member of the conference’s scientific committee, shared that the committee had received over 40 scientific papers from various experts. Eighteen of these papers were accepted and will be presented over the two-day conference. These papers will cover innovative methods to reduce carbon emissions in the construction field and promote environmental balance.
The conference is attended by experts and specialists from across the Gulf and around the world, as well as representatives from government and private sectors and leading companies in construction and sustainability. The event also features specialized scientific sessions, workshops, and an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations and technologies in green construction.
