Sheikha Fajr Badr Al-Sabah

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: The equestrian discipline of horse dressage, officially introduced in Kuwait in November of the previous year (2022) through three local championships at the Hunting and Equestrian Club and the Kuwait Equestrian Center, has witnessed a surge in participation during the ongoing 2023-2024 season. This growth is attributed to the backing and acknowledgment provided by the Kuwait Equestrian Federation for this artistic form of equestrian sport.

Sheikha Fajr Badr Al-Sabah, an accomplished horsewoman, expressed her gratitude in a press statement, highlighting the pivotal role played by Sheikh Sabah Mubarak Al-Sabah in establishing the Dressage Academy. Sheikh Sabah, known for his profound passion for horses and his role as a breeder and owner of racehorses in the United Kingdom and Ireland, has been instrumental in promoting and enhancing various equestrian disciplines globally.

Sheikha Fajr Al-Sabah emphasized that horse dressage is a sport rooted in the art of horsemanship, teaching horses specific movements to be executed with precision and without resorting to violence. According to the International Equestrian Federation, dressage represents the pinnacle of horse training, with both rider and horse executing a sequence of predetermined movements committed to memory.

She expressed her gratitude to Sheikh Sabah Al-Mubarak, the founder of this sport in Kuwait, who has organized five tournaments thus far to bolster and nurture the growth of this novel equestrian pursuit in the country.
