KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: The 11th edition of the "Atyab Al-Marshood" International Championship, an annual event organized by Waleed Al-Marshood, kicks off this afternoon at the Kuwait Equestrian Center. The competition will feature an elite group of male and female riders representing Kuwait, along with participants from several Gulf and European countries.
The first day's events will begin at 3:00 pm, starting with a round at 120 cm, followed by a round at 130 cm, and concluding with the grand prize round at 140 cm. On Friday, competitions will include rounds at 120 cm, 135 cm, and 140 cm, and the final day, Saturday, will feature rounds at 125 cm, 135 cm, and 145 cm.
Walid Sulaiman Al-Marshood, head of the Supreme Organizing Committee and tournament director, emphasized that the Al-Marshood Championship has become a prestigious international event, attracting top riders from around the world. He praised the strong participation of international knights and noted the importance of private sector support in fostering competitive spirit and strengthening local championships. He also expressed his gratitude to the Kuwait Equestrian Federation and the team managing the Kuwait Equestrian Center for their continuous efforts to promote the sport, particularly among the youth.
Ali Jassim Al-Kharafi, a prominent star of the Kuwait Club and the national equestrian team, highlighted that the Al-Marshood International Championship is the most significant and largest equestrian event in Kuwait. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of private sector companies in supporting the sport and the state's efforts to elevate equestrian activities. Al-Kharafi also noted the emergence of a new generation of young competitors, showing strong performances alongside seasoned champions in recent years.
