Executive Director of Kuwait Robotics Championship emphasizes commitment to digitization and modern technology

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4:  Dr. Noura Al-Jari, the Executive Director of the Kuwait National Robotics Championship and a faculty member in the Computer Science Department, affirmed that the championship is dedicated to aligning with both global and local trends in digitization and modern technology. She highlighted the initiative's role in raising awareness about the significance of robotics in education and its contribution to personal and societal development.

Dr. Al-Jari made this statement in a press release on Monday during the second Kuwait National Robotics Championship, which is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, represented by the Technical Guidance of Computer; the Public Authority for Youth; Zain Telecommunications Company; Al-Sayer Holding Company; Kuwait College of Technology; and Warba Bank.

She noted that the Computer Science Department aims to attract interested youth through this initiative, harnessing their talents to cultivate a generation prepared to keep pace with technological advancements and to develop future leaders for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

As part of a community partnership between Kuwait University and the private sector, an interactive display platform was established at the Avenues Mall to introduce the championship to the public, following an invitation from Mabanee Real Estate Company.

Dr. Al-Jari explained that the event attracted nearly a thousand visitors of all ages, including parents and students with special needs. The four competitions featured in the championship were presented, which include the submarine competition (Sea Perch), drone competition (Aerial Drones), robot building and programming (VEX Robotics), and the open innovation challenge. Visitors had the opportunity to interact with the robots and participate in mini workshops focused on building and using them.

A total of 100 teams, comprising six members each, registered for the championship, resulting in 600 participants ranging from elementary to university students. Dr. Al-Jari indicated that participants will undergo training and qualification in preparation for representing Kuwait in regional and international competitions.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Dr. Fayez Al-Dhafiri, Secretary-General of Kuwait University; Dr. Muhammad bin Sabt, Acting Dean of the College of Science; Dr. Fares Al-Azmi, Acting Assistant Dean for Planning, Consulting, and Training; Dr. Zaid Dashti, Head of the Computer Department; Abdullah Al-Adwani, Deputy Director-General of the Youth Authority; along with various representatives from the championship’s partner organizations.
