Expat Accused of Fraud After Failing to Complete Home Renovation

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: The investigator at Al-Mutlaa Police Station has issued an arrest warrant for an expatriate accused of fraud by a Kuwaiti citizen. The investigation aims to uncover the truth behind the allegation.

A 41-year-old Kuwaiti reported that he had agreed with the expatriate, whose first name he only knew, to modify the facade of his house. He had given the expatriate an advance payment of 300 dinars to purchase construction materials, understanding that the remainder would be paid upon completion. However, the expatriate failed to show up as agreed, and when the citizen tried to contact him, he found that the expatriate's phone was consistently turned off.

The citizen provided the authorities with the expatriate's phone number, leaving the task of identifying and apprehending him to the security forces.

In a separate incident, an elderly citizen accused the family's private driver, who holds an Article 20 residence permit, of disappearing with the family's 2022 model car. She reported that the driver had turned off his mobile phone and that the vehicle still had outstanding installments. A breach of trust case has been registered, and both the vehicle and the expatriate have been placed on the wanted list.
