KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: The security personnel at a well-known shopping center in the Hawally area have reported an expatriate to the Maidan Hawalli police station on charges of tampering with product barcodes. The market administration has provided video evidence, revealing the accused's actions of replacing the barcode of an inexpensive item with that of a more costly product.

According to a security source, an expat was residing in the country illegally, who was acting as the shopping center's legal representative, cashier became suspicious of a product's price based on experience. Upon informing the expatriate that the displayed price was incorrect, he feigned ignorance.

The customer was then asked to wait while the security team reviewed the surveillance footage. The footage clearly showed the expatriate removing a barcode from a cheaper item and affixing it to a more expensive product. His denial of involvement was debunked by the video evidence.

The Ministry of Interior was alerted, and the expatriate was subsequently taken into custody at the police station, where he faces charges of theft.
