Expat Cashier Beaten for Praying While on Duty

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: An investigator from Shamiya Police Station has instructed security personnel to investigate an incident in which a cashier at a cooperative society was allegedly beaten and threatened by a security officer for performing the Maghrib prayer while on duty. The investigator ordered them to detain the security officer, check for any criminal record, review surveillance footage if available, and gather witness statements. These instructions were issued after a 1991-born expatriate complained to Shamiya Police Station, explaining that he works as a cashier at a cooperative society, and he was beaten and threatened by a security officer for praying while working. He also provided a medical report issued by a government hospital to indicate the injuries he sustained in the attack. He explained that the incident occurred two days ago at 5:05 pm during the time of Maghrib prayer. The accused threatened him by saying: “I will stomp on your head and your father’s head”, and asked him not to repeat the act.
