KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Hawally security authorities have detained an expatriate, born in 1998, for questioning following the suspicious death of his roommate in a shared bachelor apartment. According to a security source, the Ministry of Interior’s operations center received a report on a medical emergency in Hawalli. However, when paramedics arrived at the scene, they discovered that the case was not a medical emergency but a potential crime. Inside the apartment’s bathroom, they found a 47-year-old expatriate with a rope wrapped around his neck. Emergency personnel confirmed that the man was deceased.
Authorities, including forensic investigators and Public Prosecution representatives, were immediately notified. Investigators suspect foul play, prompting them to detain the individual who reported the incident for further questioning. When interrogated, the detained expatriate claimed that financial difficulties may have driven his roommate to take his own life. He stated that the deceased had often expressed distress over his family’s monetary demands, which he was unable to meet. Forensic experts are set to examine the body and the crime scene to determine whether the death was a suicide or if criminal involvement is suspected. The investigation remains ongoing
