KUWAIT CITY, June 5:  The Hawalli Governorate Search and Investigation Department has launched a manhunt for an unidentified thief who robbed an expatriate by impersonating a detective. The incident occurred at 7 a.m. in the Hawalli area.

According to case number 258/2024 filed at the Maidan Hawalli police station under the title "Theft of a sum of money and impersonation," the victim, an expatriate born in 1984, reported that he was approached by an individual while he was on his way to breakfast.

The perpetrator, posing as a detective, showed the expatriate a ID card claiming to be official identification and asked him to get into his vehicle. Once inside, the thief locked the doors and demanded the victim's personal identification and wallet. The expatriate complied, handing over his wallet which contained 67 dinars. The thief then ordered him to exit the vehicle and quickly fled the scene. A case has been registered and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
