Expat Uses Fake Engine Repair Deal to Defraud A Bedoun of 1,800 Dinars

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Hawalli detectives have investigated two expatriates following a report of fraud and deception. The investigation revealed that one of them exploited the victim’s need to replace his car engine to commit fraud.

According to a security source, a Bedoun reported to the Hawalli Square Police Station that his car engine had suddenly broken down. He approached an electrical and tire shop in the Maidan Hawally area and agreed with an individual, whose identity he did not know, to replace and repair the engine for 1,800 dinars. However, he was later shocked to find the garage closed.

The source added that after filing the case, the license holder, an expatriate, was summoned. He denied involvement, explaining that he had leased the garage to a subcontractor and had recently reported its closure due to poor business performance. He provided the detectives with the tenant’s information, leading to the arrest of the actual perpetrator. The investigation confirmed that the fraudster had deceived the Bedoun, never carried out any repairs, and had not replaced the engine as promised.
