KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: The Misdemeanor Court, presided over by Judge Issa Al-Hazer, sentenced two expatriates - an Indian and an Egyptian, who were accused of placing a camera inside a women’s bathroom, to two-year imprisonment with hard labor followed by deportation after serving the sentence, and ordered the confiscation of the mobile phone.
The court also ordered the referral of the civil case to the concerned civil court after the legal team of the Kuwaiti plaintiff filed a civil complaint, claiming an amount of KD 5,001. According to the case files, a Kuwaiti woman found a spy camera hidden inside the women’s bathroom of a local bank in Farwaniya Governorate.
She immediately filed a complaint with the police. Soon after, the Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of the accused. The ministry issued a statement, in which it declared that “The Criminal Security Sector’s General Department for Criminal Investigations, arrested an Arab and an Asian on charges of misusing a phone, by placing it inside a bathroom designated for women in a bank in Farwaniya.”
