KUWAIT CITY, Jan 4: The Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday that the residency decree-law 114/2024 for expatriates would take effect on Sunday.
In a statement, the MoI explained that “a consensual settlement” would apply in certain cases. Failure to report a new birth within four months constitutes a violation of Provision 6, with a fine of KD 2 for each delay day in the first month and KD 4 thereafter, capped at KD 2,000.
Provision 9 prohibits foreigners from obtaining residency permits in specific situations, including entering Kuwait on a work visa, for family reunification, study, temporary government contracts, or treatment. The fine for delays in such cases is KD 2 per day in the first month, KD 4 for the subsequent period, with a ceiling of KD 1,200.
Article 9 also outlines fines for irregularities involving domestic workers, with a fine of KD 2 for each day of delay, capped at KD 600.
Article 11 addresses overstaying visa validity, with a settlement fee of KD 10 per day after the visa expires.
