KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: Taking steps to streamline processes and ensure the timely settlement of outstanding debts, expatriates are now required to pay pending traffic violations before exiting Kuwait. The Ministry of Interior has introduced user-friendly methods for expats to fulfill this requirement effectively.
According to the General Department of Relations and Security Media at the Ministry of Interior, this initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to ensure the proper collection of debts owed to the Ministry. The legal basis for this action can be traced back to Decree No. (17/1959) of the Foreigners Residence Law and Decree-Law No. (67/1976) pertaining to traffic regulations.
To comply with this regulation, any expatriate intending to leave Kuwait, regardless of the purpose of departure, is obligated to settle any recorded traffic violations associated with their profile within the Ministry of Interior's systems. The Ministry has established convenient channels for this process, allowing individuals to clear their dues via the Ministry's electronic portal or by visiting designated departments affiliated with the General Traffic Department. These departments are conveniently located across various governorates, as well as at offices situated within land and sea ports, including Kuwait International Airport.
Effective from Saturday, August 19, 2023, this requirement ensures that departing expatriates fulfill their financial obligations to the Ministry. By adhering to these prescribed legal protocols, the Ministry of Interior emphasizes its unwavering commitment to upholding public order and security within the country.
In the interest of maintaining a harmonious and lawful environment, all individuals are urged to heed these established legal provisions and avoid any violations thereof. The Ministry remains resolute in its duty to safeguard the nation's well-being and overall security.
