Expired Licenses and Rotten Food Among Violations in Recent Food Safety Sweep

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 21: Mohammed Ahmed Al-Kandari, Head of the Mubarakiya Center at the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, announced that a recent inspection campaign in the Capital Governorate resulted in 27 violation reports for various food safety infractions.

In his statement, Al-Kandari noted that the violations included selling food products unfit for human consumption, such as spoiled items with altered color, shape, or smell. Other violations involved displaying food outside the authorized premises, operating a food establishment with an expired health license, and transporting food without proper authorization from the relevant authority.

He further highlighted that some workers were handling food without holding the necessary health certificates, and employers were found employing staff without the required documentation. Additionally, several facilities failed to adhere to general and personal hygiene standards during operations.

Al-Kandari emphasized that the authority is committed to safeguarding consumer health by ensuring the provision of safe food and holding accountable those who compromise food safety and consumer well-being.
