KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: Authorities arrested a truck driver involved in smuggling illegal immigrants into Kuwait through the Nuwaiseeb port, charging 1,000 dinars per person. Along with the driver, two expatriates who entered the country through his scheme were also detained. Investigations are underway to determine the total number of individuals he smuggled in, with plans to apprehend and refer them to the appropriate authorities.

A security source indicated that the expatriates smuggled in by the driver might be deported once the investigation concludes. The case unfolded when an expatriate was arrested in the Al-Mutlaa area without any identification or database record. During questioning, he admitted that he and another expatriate of the same nationality had illegally entered the country with the help of the truck driver. He provided detectives with the second expatriate’s contact information.

Following investigations, the driver was located in the Abu Halifa area. Under interrogation, he confessed to smuggling the expatriates into the country two months prior, charging 1,000 dinars for each. He revealed that he received payment in advance and unloaded the individuals after crossing the Nuwaiseeb border. The Nuwaiseeb border crossing authorities were notified of the driver’s activities to take necessary measures. The driver also admitted to previously smuggling other expatriates into the country by hiding them among vegetables and fruits in a truck transporting food supplies.
