KUWAIT CITY, Dec 15: Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan announced the commencement of extensive road maintenance in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate as part of new contracts for radical maintenance of highways and internal roads. These works are part of a broader initiative that includes 18 major road maintenance projects across various areas of the country in all six governorates.
In a press statement on Sunday, Dr. Al-Mashaan emphasized that completing the maintenance works quickly and efficiently, while adhering to the required quality and technical specifications, is a top priority. She also stressed the importance of meeting the set timeline for these works.
Dr. Al-Mashaan explained that the decision to begin maintenance in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate follows the recommendations of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, reflecting the government's commitment to preserving and improving the country's infrastructure.
The maintenance efforts will begin in the most affected areas of the governorate, with subsequent work in less impacted regions. Dr. Al-Mashaan highlighted that teams from the Ministry of Public Works will oversee and monitor the execution of the maintenance works. A committee has also been formed to select supervising engineers and conduct tests to ensure the proper management of the project.
She called for enhanced coordination to address any pending issues related to road maintenance and emphasized the need for the work to be completed on time and with the highest standards of quality, in line with the approved technical specifications.
Dr. Al-Mashaan also noted that road maintenance is a key priority for the political leadership. She expressed gratitude for the guidance of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in supporting and implementing road maintenance projects, which are vital for achieving advanced infrastructure as part of the "New Kuwait 2035" vision.
Engineer Noura Al-Mutairi, from the Road Engineering Maintenance Sector in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, also commented on the maintenance efforts. She explained that the current work focuses on cleaning the rainwater drainage network in preparation for the rainy season, to prevent water accumulation on roads that could obstruct traffic.
Al-Mutairi urged residents of the area to cooperate with the relevant authorities to ensure the timely completion of the work, noting that some roads may be closed during the maintenance process.
