Fake Nationality Scheme Busted in Kuwait After Half a Century

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: The Nationality Affairs Investigations team successfully uncovered a case involving the forgery of Kuwaiti citizenship. The investigation revealed a decades-long scheme that began in 1972 when a Kuwaiti citizen illegally added a Saudi national to his nationality file, reportedly as a favor on the recommendation of a friend.

Years later,  at the age of 27, the Saudi national repeated the crime by adding another Saudi individual to his nationality file in exchange for a monetary payment. The forgery remained hidden until recently when investigators uncovered the fraudulent activity.

The investigation determined that the original Kuwaiti citizen involved in the forgery is deceased, as is the first impersonator. Authorities arrested the sons of both the forger and the second impersonator, as well as the second impersonator himself, for their involvement in the fraudulent scheme. All individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings, including the potential revocation of their citizenship.

The Nationality Affairs Investigations team continues its efforts to protect the integrity of Kuwaiti citizenship and has been commended for its diligence in exposing this case.
