Indian expat's mysterious death in Kuwait sparks urgent call for investigation.

GOA, India, Jan 16: The family of Dharamappa Harijan, a 25-year-old resident of Goa, Baina, has called for an investigation into his mysterious death in Kuwait on Saturday, just days after he confided in them about receiving menacing calls. The family, based in Baina, has been left in shock following the suspicious circumstances surrounding Dharamappa's demise.

On Sunday, the grieving family submitted a memorandum to Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the presence of Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, urging a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to Dharamappa's death. Dharamappa's uncle, Parshuram, revealed that the young man had expressed concerns about his safety, having received threats over phone calls.

"We are in absolute shock. Dharamappa’s body was found in suspicious circumstances at his workplace, we have been told," said Parshuram.

The family had taken immediate action last Friday by approaching the Mormugao police station to file a complaint. However, they were redirected to seek assistance from the office of the Commissioner for NRI Affairs. After reaching out to the Commissioner's office and providing Dharamappa's passport details and relevant information on Monday, the news of his death reached them before any action could be taken.

"We also demand that other people who went to Kuwait a year ago to work along with Dharamappa, through a Vasco-based agent, be rescued," added Parshuram, highlighting concerns for the safety of others who may have faced similar threats.
