KUWAIT CITY, March 1: The Ministry of Public Works has announced that the Fifth Ring Road Tunnel towards Jahra was to officially open today, Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. The opening ceremony will be led by Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, the Minister of Public Works.

This development is part of the ongoing improvements to the Fifth Ring Road, which aim to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion in surrounding areas, including Al-Siddiq, Al-Salam, Hatteen, Surra, and Qortuba.

The project involves the construction of a tunnel in both directions, along with sub-paths leading towards Surra and Qortuba, and others towards Al-Siddiq and Al-Salam. Additionally, Damascus Street is being converted into an overpass as part of the overall project.

The Public Authority for Roads and Transportation has prioritized the completion of the tunnel, despite facing significant challenges related to the existing infrastructure at its location.
