KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: A Filipina expatriate has filed a police complaint in Hawally Governorate after allegedly losing KD 1,000 to a company that promised to arrange a job for her in Germany but subsequently closed its office and stopped responding to her inquiries.
The woman, born in 1979, told police that she had come across an advertisement offering attractive salaries for employment opportunities in several European countries.
According to her complaint, she visited the company’s headquarters about two months ago to inquire about the advertised positions. Company representatives allegedly offered her a job opportunity in Germany and demanded KD 1,000 to complete the recruitment and contracting procedures.
She said she paid the amount in cash to the company’s management and waited for confirmation that the arrangements had been completed. However, she received no response despite waiting for an update.
When she returned to the company’s headquarters to check on the status of her application, she found the office closed and was unable to contact the management.
Suspecting that she had been defrauded, the woman approached a police station in Hawalli and lodged a complaint. The case was reported for investigation to establish the circumstances and determine responsibility.
