KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: Remittances from Filipino workers in Kuwait showed a slight increase during the first nine months of 2024. The total amount reached $432.67 million, reflecting a modest rise of $27,000, or 0.11 percent, compared to $432.2 million in the same period of 2023. Looking at remittances from all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, there was a more notable increase of 5.12 percent year-on-year, totaling approximately $4.25 billion in the first nine months of 2024, up from $4.04 billion in 2023. These remittances accounted for 96.46 percent of the total remittances from Filipino workers in the Middle East region, which amounted to $4.40 billion during the same period. Among the GCC countries, the UAE led the growth in remittances with a 6.71 percent increase, followed by Saudi Arabia with a 6.39 percent rise. Kuwait, however, saw the smallest growth at just 0.11 percent. The largest remittance contributions from the GCC came from Saudi Arabia, with $1.56 billion, while Bahrain recorded the lowest at $194.79 million.
