KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: The Criminal Court sentenced an official of a government agency to seven years imprisonment followed by termination from his position because he illegally seized salaries worth KD 37,000 by assigning an Iranian clerk to sign in for him using fingerprint molds. According to the case file, the official had not been going to work and had instead paid an Iranian expatriate to sign in and out for him by using a fingerprint mold, as well as provided him with his job file number and password to prove his attendance on a daily basis. The court also sentenced the Iranian expatriate to seven years imprisonment. It ordered the Iranian expatriate and the accused government official to pay a fine of KD 113,000, which is double the value of the unjustified salaries they received.
