KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: An international criminal network consisting of five individuals involved in drug smuggling has been dismantled, with authorities seizing 60 kilograms of marijuana and hashish. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is approximately 750,000 Kuwaiti dinars.

This successful operation is part of the ongoing, intensive efforts by the Criminal Security Sector to combat drug trafficking and thwart any attempts to smuggle narcotics into Kuwait, regardless of the methods or tricks employed.

The General Department for Combating Narcotics, specifically the International Anti-Narcotics Department, played a crucial role in this operation. Through their vigilance and readiness, they managed to break up the criminal network, which included five defendants who specialized in smuggling drugs from a European country into Kuwait via Kuwait International Airport. Shockingly, two of the individuals worked in the General Department of Customs and exploited their positions to facilitate the smuggling of narcotics. The seized drugs, weighing a total of 60 kilograms, included both marijuana and hashish, with a market value estimated at 750,000 Kuwaiti dinars.

All suspects and the seized narcotics have been handed over to the Drug Prosecution Office, where they will face legal action. The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to justice, vowing that anyone who threatens the security and stability of the country will be held accountable, without exception, to protect the citizens of Kuwait.
