KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: Authorities have launched a manhunt for five unidentified individuals accused of resisting arrest, assaulting public employees, and aiding a suspect's escape. The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Ahmadi Investigations Department, is tasked with apprehending the suspects. Information about the vehicles involved, including their types and license plates, has been recorded in the case file.
According to a security source, two officers—a sergeant and a corporal—reported the incident to the Hadiya Police Station. While on patrol in the Al-Daher area, they stopped a 2018 American-made four-wheel-drive vehicle near a cooperative society. Upon questioning the driver, who lacked identification, the officers requested he step out of the vehicle.
During this interaction, the driver made a phone call, and shortly after, a saloon car arrived with four individuals. Armed with a wooden object, the group assaulted the officers, enabling the suspect to escape. All five individuals then fled the scene.
The corporal sustained injuries during the attack and has submitted a medical report detailing the harm caused.
This case highlights Article 135 of the Penal Code, which imposes penalties for assaulting or resisting public employees. Offenders face imprisonment of up to one year and fines ranging between KD 300 and KD 1,000. However, assaults against police officers in specific circumstances, such as demonstrations or official duties, carry harsher penalties of up to five years’ imprisonment and fines ranging from KD 1,000 to KD 5,000.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to locate and apprehend the suspects.
