KUWAIT CITY, Nov 29: In the midst of strict surveillance of the land and marine borders around-the-clock, between five and 10 people are being referred to the investigation department of the State Security police daily on the background of either belonging to or sympathizing with the terrorist organizations, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

The same sources said the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with government agencies including the Ministry of Defense, the General Administration of Customs, the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation and the Public Ports Authority are involved in monitoring the security situation on the Kuwaiti borders. The sources added, if anyone is found negligent in duty or not up to the mark of what is expected of him in terms of security of the country, the person is punished and taken to task.

The sources added the Ministry of Interior has formed secret teams to oversee loopholes in the work organization. This is in addition to putting certain places under 24-hour surveillance — places such as camping areas, livestock pens, farms and even crowded areas such as auction places.

The sources explained the Interior Ministry also keeps an eye on people who may attempt to recruit young men to join the terrorist groups, or those who communicate with these groups and sleeper cells in the country.

The sources added, the security reports are prepared every six hours to prevent anyone from undermining the country’s security.

The sources noted verbal instructions have been given to all employees of the Interior Ministry to report anything that is suspicious and arrest the suspects.

On the other hand, a knowledgeable security source said the members of the cells that were busted recently were unable to exploit the land in Kuwait to set up training camps.
