LOS ANGELES, Nov 23, (Agencies): Renowned 'Food Network' chef Michael Chiarello's official cause of death has been unveiled more than a month and a half following his passing. The Napa County Coroner confirmed that the chef succumbed to an allergic reaction that triggered anaphylactic shock, ultimately leading to a fatal heart attack. Chiarello passed away at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California, on Oct 7.
While medical intervention successfully revived Chiarello after the initial allergic reaction, he later developed hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, a condition arising from insufficient oxygen and blood flow. The specific allergen responsible for the reaction remains unknown.
In a surprising revelation, the coroner's report disclosed the presence of cocaine in Chiarello's system. However, it emphasized that the chef did not meet his demise due to a drug overdose.
The announcement of Chiarello's official cause of death comes after his family released a touching tribute in October, expressing deep mourning for the loss of the beloved patriarch. The tribute underscored Chiarello's culinary brilliance, boundless creativity, and unwavering commitment to family as integral aspects of his character.
