LOS ANGELES, Sept 24, (Agencies): George Clooney is parting with his beloved Lake Como villa, Villa Oleandra, after 21 years of ownership. According to Italian weekly magazine Oggi, the property is officially up for sale, managed by an undisclosed Milan agency. While Clooney and real estate agent Yasemin Baysal from Engel & Volkers in Como and Milan have yet to comment on the matter, a local Italian source has affirmed the authenticity of the sale.
The estimated worth of the actor's estate, nestled amidst Lake Como's breathtaking scenery, now reaches a staggering $100 million. Notably, Clooney acquired the villa in 2002 for around $10 million from the Heinz family, a testament to his financial astuteness.
Clooney's purchase of Villa Oleandra in 2002 had a transformative effect on the local real estate market, leading to a doubling of property prices, as stated by the mayor of Laglio. Subsequently, the actor expanded his holdings by procuring an adjacent property, resulting in one of the region's most extensive private estates, valued at over $100 million in 2022, per The Wall Street Journal.
Lake Como holds profound sentimental value for Clooney, as it was where he first crossed paths with his wife, Amal Clooney, in 2013. Their love story began during a group dinner at George's residence while Amal was en route to Cannes, France, ultimately culminating in their 2014 wedding at the Aman Canal Grande resort in Venice.
Throughout the years, Clooney's villa has been a haven for numerous celebrity friends, including the cast of "Ocean’s Twelve" in 2004, Jennifer Aniston during the filming of "Murder Mystery" in 2018, and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, who chose the location for their 2010 wedding. Krasinski humorously recounted George's offer of his estate for their nuptials, initially met with skepticism.
