KUWAIT CITY, July 27: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested the Ministry of Education to provide clarifications regarding the equivalence of Egyptian academic certificates. This inquiry follows a request from the Egyptian Embassy.

The request was accompanied by a memorandum from the embassy, which highlighted concerns raised by many parents at the cultural office. These parents reported that the Kuwaiti General Administration of Private Education had refused to equate their children's academic certificates. The refusal was based on the students having studied for only one year in Egypt, whereas the current regulations require attendance for two academic years in Egypt for certificate equivalency.

The embassy's memo noted that there was a prior agreement with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education that allowed for the equivalence of Egyptian certificates with just one academic year of study in Egypt. The embassy emphasized that neither it nor the cultural office had been informed of any changes to these instructions.

In response, the Egyptian embassy has requested that the decision be reconsidered or, at the very least, that a transitional period be established for its implementation. The embassy has also expressed the desire to hold an urgent meeting with the relevant officials in the Ministry of Education to discuss the implications of the decision and its potential impact on the future of many Kuwaiti students studying in Egypt.
