KUWAIT CITY, April 28: In a landmark ruling, the Court of Cassation sentenced former minister and Member of Parliament Mubarak Al-Harees to two years in prison with hard labor and a fine of 566,000 Kuwaiti dinars. Al-Harees was convicted on charges of abusing his influence to improperly benefit from the allocation of industrial plots. The case, which has drawn significant attention, also saw the acquittal of the second defendant, who was cleared of all charges. This ruling marks a crucial moment in the ongoing efforts to combat corruption among high-ranking officials in Kuwait.
