Former lawmaker Saadoun Hammad surrenders at Court of Appeal

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7: Former MP Saadoun Hammad Al-Otaibi has turned himself in to the Court of Appeal, requesting a suspension of his two-year prison sentence related to allegations of purchasing electoral votes in the third district during the National Assembly elections.

In court, Hammad denied the charges against him, reiterating his previous statements made to the Public Prosecution that he did not engage in any activities to buy voters' votes in the third district.

The Public Prosecution had accused Hammad and others of vote-buying prior to the elections for National Assembly members, alleging that the aim was to secure the election of Saadoun Hammad Al-Otaibi to Parliament. However, all accused individuals have categorically denied the allegations.
