KUWAIT CITY, June 1: Officers from the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) at the Interior Ministry dealt a new blow to drug traffickers after thwarting the attempt of four Kuwaiti citizens and customs employees to smuggle about a million Lyrica pills into the country. A security source said police investigations revealed that four citizens, who came from a Gulf country, tried to bring in seven suitcases packed with Lyrica pills at Kuwait International Airport.

Accordingly, the control teams headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Hamid Al-Dawas and Director General of DCGD Brigadier General Mohammad Qabazard monitored the arrival of the suspects. The source added that the culprits coordinated with customs employees who facilitated the entry of the seven suitcases into the country without being searched. The four citizens and the customs employees were arrested. They were referred to the concerned authorities, along with the confiscated items.
