KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: The Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) conducted an inspection campaign targeting shops and markets that sell men’s and women’s fabrics in the Capital Governorate. In a statement to reporters, the Director of the Ministry’s Commercial Control Department Faisal Al-Ansari explained that the campaign was part of a preemptive plan submitted by the department to ministry officials in anticipation of the winter season. As a result of the campaign, 18 seizure citations and two citations for licensing violations were issued.

These violations included non-compliance with the announced prices and the omission of the country of origin on some fabric materials on display, which increases the risk of consumers falling victim to commercial fraud regarding the country of origin. Al-Ansari affirmed that the Commercial Control Department will continue conducting market inspection campaigns in all governorates, and urged customers to report any infractions through the complaints portal on Sahel app or via the ministry’s hotline. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry denied the use of WhatsApp to provide complaint services or to respond to inquiries. The ministry stressed that it has not requested any payment links via WhatsApp, and advised consumers to ignore any suspicious messages they may receive in this regard.
