KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13: In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, "Fifty Shades of Grey" lead Dakota Johnson opened up about her unique lifestyle, where her number one priority is getting ample rest. Known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the "Fifty Shades" franchise, Johnson disclosed that she aims for a minimum of 10 hours of sleep but often indulges in up to 14 hours if circumstances allow.
"If I’m not working, if I have a day off on a Monday, then I will sleep as long as I can. Sleep is my No. 1 priority in life," she emphasized. Once well-rested, Johnson skips breakfast and opts for a quick coffee fix, particularly enjoying an oat milk flat white.
In terms of self-care rituals, Johnson expressed her love for baths, stating, "I will get in a bathtub at any moment, any time of the day. If in the middle of the day, I’m like, 'Oh God, what is this world?' I’ll get in the bathtub. I find water grounding."
Drawing inspiration from her actor parents, Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Johnson acknowledged the confidence and screen presence she learned from them. Reflecting on her mother's on-screen persona, she noted, "My mom is such a specific person. She’s so different to watch on screen — she’s got this real sparkle in her eyes. You’re like, ‘What is she thinking?’ I’ve always appreciated that she doesn’t give it all away. So maybe that — a little bit of mystery."
Beyond her acting career, Johnson is involved in "The Disappearance of Shere Hite," a documentary where she serves as the narrator. The film delves into the life of feminist sex educator Shere Hite, who faced backlash for her groundbreaking book, "The Hite Report," in 1970. Johnson highlighted Hite's intelligence and eloquence, emphasizing her contribution to understanding female sexuality and the female orgasm.
Recently, Johnson curated Hite's work in the "100 Years of Design and Decency" exhibition at Miami’s new Museum of Sex. Reflecting on the exhibition, she expressed excitement about sparking conversations on sexual wellness and addressing ongoing challenges in discussing the topic.
