Al-Kholood caused a strong surprise in the Roshn League

RIYADH, Jan 16: Al-Ahli fans voiced their frustration after a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Al-Kholood in the 15th round of the Roshan League. The defeat came in the second minute of stoppage time, dashing hopes for a goalless draw and costing Al-Ahli three crucial points.

A video circulating on the "X" platform captured the discontent of Al-Ahli supporters, who jeered at the players as they exited the field. English striker Ivan Toney bore the brunt of the criticism, with fans calling for his departure. Toney remained silent and headed directly to the locker room.

The loss snapped Al-Ahli's five-match winning streak, leaving them with 26 points and in fifth place in the league standings. Meanwhile, Al-Kholood earned a vital win, disrupting Al-Ahli's momentum.

In other matches, Al-Ettifaq triumphed over Damak 3-0, while Al-Shabab secured a 2-1 victory against Al-Riyadh. The round continues today, with Al-Khaleej facing Al-Ruba, Al-Wehda taking on Al-Qadisiyah, and Al-Nasr clashing with Al-Taawoun.

Former Al-Shabab star Ahmed Atef criticized Matthias Jaissle, Al-Ahli’s German coach, and called for his dismissal. Speaking on the "Our League is Different" program, Atef argued, "Al-Ahli has the tools and big-name players to deliver positive results, but under Jaissle, there’s no clear style, and no player has improved."

Atef urged the club's management to act swiftly: "If Al-Ahli changes Jaissle, a new coach can manage the big names and compete for the league title. The upcoming match against Al-Ettifaq, coached by Steven Gerrard, is critical. Despite its win over Damak, Ettifaq remains underwhelming compared to other developing teams."
