KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: MP Dawoud Ma’arafi has confirmed completing the grilling motion he intends to file against Minister of Public Works Amani Bugamaz. He said the grilling motion consists of these points: Kuwait International Airport, and public tenders at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART).

On the other hand, MP Adel Al- Damkhi forwarded queries to Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research Adel Al-Mane on the alleged violation of decision number 28/2023 regarding the launching of Dentistry course at the American University for Medical Sciences (AUMS) in Kuwait for academic year 2023/2024 as per decree number 466/2010 on the establishment of AUMS.

Rationale
He asked about the rationale behind the suspension of the launching that will result in paying compensation for the affected students as per the final court ruling, why AUMS did not inform the students before receiving their applications and admission fees, and plan of the Higher Education Ministry to find slots for outstanding students who want to pursue Dentistry considering Kuwait University and the private universities have no more slots for this course; especially after suspending the scholarship of Dentistry students in the universities in Egypt and Jordan.

MP Osama Al-Zaid submitted a proposal to obligate oil contracting companies to hire Kuwaiti employees according to oil sector laws, not the Private Sector Labor Law. He explained that his proposal is aimed at protecting the rights of employees, and ensuring justice among Kuwaitis employed in public and private oil companies.

Meanwhile, the parliamentary Public Funds Protection Committee on Monday discussed the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) funds stolen by the late former PIFSS Chairman Fahd Al-Rajaan.

Dr Fahd Al- Rashed, who filed the lawsuit against Al-Rajaan, attended the meeting. Al-Rajaan died in September 2022 in London. He was convicted of committing financial violations and stealing PIFSS funds when he served as the institution’s board chairman.
