Gallows for killing brother of ex-MP

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: The Criminal Court sentenced the killer of Ahmed Al-Jalal to death, based on a medical report that confirmed the accused was fully responsible for his action. The Public Prosecution started investigations into the murder of Ahmed Al- Jalal -- brother of former MP Mutab Al- Jalal -- when the accused turned himself into the police after fatally stabbing the victim during an altercation in Hadiya. During the trial, Attorney Hussein Al- Asfour demanded that the maximum penalty be imposed on the accused, citing the psychiatric report which affirmed the latter’s accountability for his action. In his argument before the court, Deputy Director of Ahmadi and Mubarak Al- Kabeer Prosecution Nasser Al-Misbahi pointed out that the accused deprived the victim of his most fundamental right -- the right to life. He stressed that by submitting to personal impulses and demonic whims, the accused violated not only the victim’s right; but also the will of Almighty Allah, who alone grants life and has the power to take it away. Al-Misbahi further described the crime as brutal and called for the death penalty as a just punishment to serve as a deterrent to others. He added that the sentence should be a guiding example for those who reflect, insight for those who see and a reminder for those who remember
