KUWAIT CITY, April 9: The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigation – Capital Investigations Department, successfully arrested a gang ( two Egyptian nationals and one Syrian national)  involved in stealing bank card data through fake websites impersonating official government agencies. The group used the stolen data to purchase smartphones, which they intended to smuggle out of the country.

Through ongoing investigations and field operations, the suspects were apprehended in possession of electronic devices used to copy bank card information, multiple smartphones, and forged documents. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to creating a fraudulent website that closely resembled the official site of the Public Authority for Civil Information. This site was promoted through search engines to deceive victims and obtain their financial data.

The suspects were referred to the appropriate authorities for legal action. The Ministry of Interior urges all citizens and residents to exercise caution, verify the authenticity of websites before making transactions, and use only official government websites to protect themselves from fraud and data theft.
